Kintra Fibers has developed a new and proprietary synthetic fiber that is 100% bio-based, compostable, and made on standard polyester production equipment.
A preliminary 3rd-party life cycle assessment comparing Kintra resin to traditional polyester (PET) resin showed that Kintra reduces emissions by 95% and the production of Kintra’s resin reduces energy consumption by 20%. Kintra yarns pass the ASTM D6400 and ISO 14855-1 tests for industrial compost.
The team is backed by industry groups like H&M, BESTSELLER, and Fashion For Good. Today, Kintra produces yarn for pilots with brands such as H&M, Inditex, Reformation, BESTSELLER, and Pangaia, who are prototyping Kintra's materials in their product lines.
